Un portrait au sens traditionnel me semblait être sans intérêt, et insuffisant pour bien le comprendre. Commençant ce travail trois semaines avant sa mort, et l achevant deux années plus tard, j ai donc fabriqué une composition abstraite qui selon moi rassemble des aspects essentiels de lui, ou qui du moins a révélé des questions nécessaires. Tout mon travail est dominé par ma recherche de l empreinte, la trace laissée par le défunt. Dans cette série, j expérimente la notion du temps, à la fois historique et photographique. Certaines images sont l exposition instantanée d un objet usé par le temps, alors que d autres rassemblent en un seul cadrage des mois entiers.<br> En m offrant mon premier appareil photo, mon père m a aidé à montrer les gens tels que je les vois, même si lui même avait du mal à comprendre ma vision des choses. Mon intérêt dans ces objets tient de l émotionnel, mais également des domaines du médico-legal et du documentaire. Il s agit ici de tenter de rassembler des choses qui sont inéxorablement hors de mon contrôle.»<br> <br> A.R.<br> <br> <br> </font></b><i><font color="#525252">Alexandra Rowley est née et a grandi à New-York, elle a étudié la photographie à Spéos-Paris Photographic Institute et à Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. Son travail a été exposé dans le monde entier, notamment à Dina Mitrani Gallery à Miami, Clamp Art à New York, Rose Gallery à Santa Monica et Geukens et de Vil en Belgique. Alexandra a obtenu une bourse de la UCross Foundation et du Atlantic Center for the Arts.
